Yes. You send through MAJORITY, an authorized money transfer service, not a person-to-person payment to a stranger. Transfers are encrypted and handled by licensed partners, and you confirm the amount and the rate before the money is sent. Money transfer services are not FDIC insured.

No SSN required. You open your MAJORITY account with a passport or other approved government-issued ID and proof of US residency, then send money to Peru. On WhatsApp there’s no ID to upload: you confirm a few personal details and your identity is verified as you send. Additional onboarding questions may apply for customers with no SSN.

It depends on the method. Yape and Plin wallet transfers usually arrive in minutes, and so do bank deposits. Cash pickup takes longer and the time varies by location, so you see the estimate for your chosen method before you confirm.

Three ways. A mobile wallet transfer to their Yape or Plin account, using their Peruvian phone number. A bank deposit to their account at Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), Interbank, BBVA, Scotiabank, or Banco de la Nación. Or cash pickup at an Interbank location. For a Yape or Plin wallet: their full name as it appears on their ID and their Peruvian mobile number. For a bank deposit: their full name and their 20-digit CCI account number at a Peruvian bank. For cash pickup: their full name and their phone number. Every method also uses their 8-digit DNI. They collect cash with a valid government-issued photo ID and the pickup code you share with them.

You get the live USD-to-PEN rate shown in the app or the WhatsApp chat at the moment you send, and you see it before you confirm along with any fee and the exact amount in soles your family receives. Rates move during the day, so the number you see at confirmation is the one that applies. MAJORITY earns money on the foreign exchange rate on all transfers.
